Animal self medication

Observations of self-medicating animals have been described in classic textbooks such as Plinius. Modern studies in zoopharmacognosy started in the 1990’s. It is an interesting phenomenon to see animals change their foraging behaviour in relation to their health condition, but there are still large gaps in our knowledge. IEZ conducted several studies with students of naturopathy private schools and of Den Bosch and Dronten agricultural unversities (see http://www.ethnobotany.nl/research/ ).
